JA of Oxford

Junior Auxiliary of Oxford, MS, founded in 1989, represents a serious endeavor by women to serve and be a vital part of the community in rendering charitable services which are beneficial to the general public, with an emphasis on children.

We would love to present to you our 2017-2018 Charity Ball King and Queen!  King: Mr. Wayne Andrews of Oxford and Queen: Mrs. Lisa Tollison of Oxford – Each year our King and Queen are chosen based on outstanding community service along with a passion for helping others, and these two are no exception! Congratulations!!
KING:
Wayne Andrews, serves as the Executive Director of the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council & Powerhouse Community Arts Center, which received the 2018 Governor’s Award for Arts in the Community. Mr. Andrews is a graduate of the Central Connecticut State University, attended Mississippi College School of Law and the College of William and Mary Planning Giving Institute.
Mr. Andrews has over 27 years in arts and economic development with past work with Orpheum Theatre, Memphis in May International Festival, the National Folk and Dance Alliance, Memphis Symphony Orchestra, the King Biscuit Blues Festival, Live! At the Garden Concert Series, and as Director of Publishers Association of the South.
He and his wife Mary Margaret moved to Oxford in 2009 and have been active in the community.  He has been on the Historic Properties Commission, LQC Lamar Board, Burns Belfry Board, Leadership Lafayette, Chamber of Commerce, President of Rotary Club of Oxford, President of the Oxford Film Festival, and Cultural Arts Center in Clarksdale.  He currently is chair of the Mississippi Presenters Network.
He is the son in law to Ruchelle Phillips of Greenville, MS who was Queen of the Greenville Junior Auxiliary.  His greatest accomplishment is being a father to his son Reid Ragland a graduate of the University of Mississippi and chef in Denver, his daughter Haley Thomas a special education teacher, father in law to her husband and fellow teacher James Thomas, and a grandfather to Margot Thomas.
QUEEN:
Lisa was born and raised in Oxford and is the daughter of the Late Will A. and Dewey C. Hickman.  She is a graduate of Oxford High School and the University of Mississippi where she received a degree in Business.  She was an active member of Delta Delta Delta where she held the offices of Treasurer and Chaplain and has since served as Treasurer for the Chi House Corporation Board. She was part of the initial membership class of the Jr. Auxiliary Chapter in Oxford where she served in several offices and obtained the 501©3 tax exempt status for the organization.
She is presently employed at DeVoe Carr and in her spare time is actively involved in the Oxford community.
She served on the 4th of July committee and volunteered with Meals on Wheels, the upgrade of Avent’s Park, the Christmas Store,  American Heart Association, served on the Oxford Lafayette Ole Miss Alumnae Board and was Executive Director of LOFT-Lafayette Oxford Foundation for Tomorrow, a non-profit, charitable organization serving Oxford and Lafayette County.  She presently serves on the LOFT Board and has been active in their Night for Non-Profits and is a volunteer with The Pantry and More Than A Meal.
She is an active member of First Presbyterian Church where she has served two terms as Elder,  Sunday School Superintendent, Co-Moderator of the Women of the Church, Historian for Presbyterian Women, Chaired the Campus Christian Life and Children’s Education Ministry Team and The Gerry Duvall Circle and presently is in her second term as Deacon.
She is the mother of two sons, Hank Spragins and Hunter Spragins both Attorneys who practice with Hickman, Goza and Spragins and one granddaughter, Haley Scot Spragins.  She is married to Grady Tollison, an attorney with Tollison Law Firm.
